High speed internet consumers have battled for years to figure out who is giving them the best deal: Cable or DSL providers?  It seems in many circumstances that the differences are negligible.  On the other hand, some proponents of DSL and cable compare the differences between the two services as if there is a huge chasm between them.  Those users who prefer cable tend to find that they have consistently faster speeds than DSL when downloading large files, however cable tends to be more expensive than DSL.  Proponents of DSL tend to argue that because DSL does not require users to share bandwidth with other users that the reliability of their service is better, and there are minor differences in speed.

When comparing DSL providers, it is important to watch for additional costs that may creep on to your bill.  In many instances, DSL will require users to maintain a landline phone in order to receive the service.  Also, while promotional periods provide great discounts for a trial amount of months of service, these discounts don’t stick around for the long haul, so doing a full investigation as to what your price is today and what it will be in six months is important to finding a great deal on your high speed internet connection.
