Internationally famous landscape artist, Poch Romeu, was born in Barcelona in 1935. He began painting at the age of 11 but it was not until 1975 that he began to devote himself exclusively to painting. He created works notable for the marriage of masterful technique with a sensitivity to subject matter. In the painting Contraluz Barca (Boat Against the Light), the use of light is a defining element of the composition. In the foreground of the painting, a single boat is shown at its mooring. In the background we see the dock and the town in shadow. A luminous band of golden light cuts across the center of the painting, drawing the eye to the subtle coloration and fine detail with which the simple boat is depicted. This masterful painting has been skilfully reproduced in the Contraluz Barca Tapestry and is ready to add a touch of brilliance to your home.
