Chocolate covered strawberries: a multi-purpose dessert

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

Chocolate covered strawberries, from http://www.thebasketspot.com/chocolate-strawberries-c-50.html, are a treat that really puts the “class” in “classic dessert”. They are, of course, chocolate covered strawberries. There is a beautiful simplicity to them-just a simple, gracefully-shaped berry dipped artfully in chocolate. They may not involve the intricate preparation that spanikopita and other more complicated finger foods require, but they still deliver the same winning result. Read more…

Kaiser La Forme Plus Springform Pan

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

If you love to bake then you probably have a variety of great cake baking pans in your kitchen. There are the loaf pans perfect for making dessert breads, loaf cakes, and dinner breads. Then multiple round and square cake pans for creating single and layer cakes of all kinds. Large rectangular pans are the most often used for baking sheet cakes, fruit crisps, and even cooking sides dishes. I also have some specialty pans with special shapes and designs for creating fun holiday and birthday desserts. Another one of my favorite types of pans is a springform pan that I most often use for making cheesecakes, like this Kaiser Bakeware La Forme Plus 10 Inch Springform Pan. Read more…

Stainless Steel Deep Fryer For Your Stove Top

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

try to eat healthy foods most of the time - lots of fruits and whole grains, lean meats, salads and fresh veggies. But I do eat some of the more unhealthy foods from time to time, I can’t help it. Sometimes I simply crave the stuff that is bad for me once in awhile, and since I do eat well for the most part, I figure there’s noting wrong with that. Some of my favorite rare treats include French fries, fried clams, and fried chicken. When it comes to good fried foods, nothing quite compares to the taste and texture of foods made at home. Since I don’t make deep fry often, I  don’t really need one of the larger electric deep fryers. Instead, I chose to buy the Paula Deen Signature Stainless Steel Deep Fryer Set for use on my stove top. Read more…

Banana Bread With A Citrus Kick

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

I’ve been using up ripe bananas in bread for some time now and have never come across a recipe like this one. This is by far the Best Banana Bread recipe I’ve tried. I don’t know why I never thought of adding orange juice and zest to my bread before. It makes sense that they go together because, if you slice a banana, you can squeeze a little orange juice over the slices to keep them from browning so fast. The banana slices that you sprinkled with orange juice taste better than just biting into a regular banana. It’s a nice treat, so why not adding orange juice to banana bread? Read more…

Traditional Cooking in a Clay Fish Baker

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

Sometimes, the best way is also the simplest. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the Romertopf Clay Fish Baker turns out such delicious, moist, nutritious food. Made of pure, impurity-free baked clay, the Romertopf Baker is soaked in water for approximately fifteen minutes prior to use. The porous, unglazed clay pot and lid then absorbs some of this water, which is then released as steam during the cooking process, helping to infuse your food with rich, moist flavor. With this clay baker, your food will never be dry. Read more…

Dessert Style Applesauce With Cinnamon Is Perfect For Ice Cream Topping

Posted By: admin  //  Category: Cooking, Food & Wine

I wouldn’t usually put applesauce on top of ice cream, but this isn’t your ordinary applesauce. You’ll see what I mean when you mix up your first batch of chunky crock pot applesauce. This is definitely a dessert-like ice cream topping. If you cut the apples nice and chunky, you end up with almost an apple pie filling. The cinnamon certainly adds to the dessert quality of this applesauce. You’ll have to experiment with your sugar a bit depending on the tartness of the apples. But, that’s a good excuse for making a second batch right away. Read more…
